Who am I?

HI! LET ME INTRODUCE MYSELF. I AM GABRIEL ERIC MAJO VILLANUEVA

I am a young man with great passion when it comes to technology, user experience and design. Just like you, I also have big dreams in life.

Born and raised in the Philippines, I’m the kind of person who will always be proud of my roots. I recently completed my degree in Computer Engineering at Treston International College with Academic Distinction, also a proud alumnus of Fiat Lux Academe, which I can say, one of the best institutions in Cavite. These institutions molded me to who I am today, with the guidance of course, of my beloved parents and the almighty God as well.

Tracing back the past, I’ve found my passion in the world of technology when I was in grade school. I remembered, every time we have a sharing activity in school about the profession that we want someday, I’ve always had one answer, and that is to invent something that the world could use, and could benefit mankind.

TRESTON INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN COMPUTER ENGINEERING
JUNE 2010 – APRIL 2015

After high school, choosing my path in college is one of the most important decisions that I have ever made. I’m sure everyone who surpassed this stage could relate to that. I chose to take my path towards the future at Treston International College where they offered me an academic scholarship for my course, Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering.

The course that I took focuses on the combination of hardware and software. I do believe that with enough foundation with hardware, software, and a right idea, I could be able to fulfill my dream of creating innovation for mankind. And Treston was there to support me.

As a student of Treston, I was able to be part of the Dean’s list throughout the years of my stay in college. About my leadership experience, I was the first president of our department’s sole organization, the Association for Computing Machinery way back in 2010-2011 and became the organization’s councilor after my term ’til I graduate from the institution. I was also the first Microsoft Student Partner from Treston International College and along with my co-MSPs who followed to join the program, we were able to bring the Microsoft spirit in the institution through initiating activities that brought the Treston community together through technology.

Five years after, I finally graduated from the institution with Academic Distinction for attaining the General Weighted Average of 1.39 and clinched the highest award given to a student, the Treston International College Chairman’s Legacy Award for being a student who excelled both in academics and extra-curricular activities that brought honor to their school not only locally but globally.

After being chosen as one of the semi-finalists worldwide of the Innovate for Good Innovation Challenge for my idea, Sparge, a social platform that aims to raise the concern to the people in need, as well as help spread the words and acts of volunteerism to different parts of the globe, I was given the chance to take part in the 9-week Sprout E-Course to help me develop my skills and knowledge in project management and eventually turn my idea into reality.

The Sprout E-course, a Microsoft YouthSpark initiative, was designed to give young leaders like me, a worldwide access to training in essential skills, including team building, project management, communications and leveraging technology as they imagine, plan and develop social innovation projects.

FIAT LUX ACADEME

SECONDARY EDUCATION
2006 – 2010

I graduated high school with my love with Science and Technology. Fiat Lux Academe molded me in such ways to be equipped for my college years and in life as well. This institution taught me to dream big and reach for my short term goals.

It was during my senior year when I was given the chance to represent my school and compete regionally for the Environmental Science Quiz Bee where I competed against the students who joined from other schools in CALABARZON/ Region IV-A of the Philippines, and fortunately, I clinched 5th Place for the said competition. It was a momentous event for me.

Throughout my efforts for my last year in high school, I graduated with flying colors where I was declared the 2nd Honorable Mention or the Top 4 of the entire graduating class of Fiat Lux Academe Batch 2010. I also received the Loyalty Award for being with the academe since my pre-elementary years, Municipality of Imus Excellence Award, and the Vice-President of the Philippines Academic Achievement Award.
